Baldwin Pianos are considered among the best in the market. These are also the easiest to acquire as consumer financing for customers and consignment systems for retailers are offered for Baldwin Pianos. This way, Baldwin Pianos and Organs quickly gained popularity.
Dwight Hamilton Baldwin started a company called Baldwin Piano Company back in 1857 which sold different piano brands including Steinway, Chickering and Decker Brothers. Although the company had no intentions to make its own line of pianos, it received a hard blow when, in 1887, they lost Steinway. By then, the company had turned into a partnership with Lucien Wulsin, and both men decided to manufacture their own brand.
The venture proved to be successful because the company was able to manufacture it first piano ever in 1891. The business grew continuously until in gained awards and recognition as a good piano brand. A lot of famous personalities started to endorse the produce which the company would insist on being uncompensated endorsements.
Among the most notable antique Baldwin Pianos are the Acrosonic Vertical Piano and the Baldwin Grand Piano. Newer product models include the Custom (four-tiered) Grand Piano Program and the Pianovelle Digital Piano. Aside from its own product line, the company also sells the Chickering brand. |
